Object invocation in the COMET open distributed system: the dialogue model
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper presents COMET, a Common Object Management EnvironmenT, that investigates basic problems associated with distributed computing in an internet environment with mobile objects. COMET offers a uniform invocation model, based on dialogues, that integrates both communication and execution aspects. On the communication side, dialogues support asynchronous invocation with preservation of causal relationships. Applications can thus take advantage of the increased parallelism that is possible in a distributed

Persistence In Open Distributed Systems : The COMET Approach
Open Distributed Processing (ODP) has gained considerable attention in the past few years, as a result of user demand for large-scale cooperative computing. A typical characteristic of ODP environments is the presence of many users, with various needs requiring a wide range of different solutions. The challenge is to develop a uniform framework, that captures all these differences, yet presents...
متن کاملPersistency Support for Mobile Objects in the COMET Heterogeneous Environment
Open distributed computing in an internetwork environment has gained considerable attention in the past few years. This paper presents COMET, a Common Object Management EnvironmenT, that investigates basic problems associated with distributed computing in an internet environment with mobile objects. COMET’s persistency support is based on typed memory, manipulated by persistent actions. The use...
متن کاملFederated Method Invocation with Exertions
Six generations of RPC systems can be distinguished including Federated Method Invocation (FMI) presented in this paper. Some of them— CORBA, Java RMI, and Web/OGSA services—support distributed objects. However, creating object wrappers implementing remote interfaces doesn’t have a great deal to do with object-oriented distributed programming. Distributed objects developed that way are usually ...
متن کاملDistributed embedded condition monitoring systems based on OSA-CBM standard
This paper presents an approach to distributed condition monitoring systems that offers a reusable software architecture for a class of condition monitoring (CM) applications. The focus of this paper deals with an open software framework for development of CM applications stemming from 1) the Open System Architecture for Condition Based Maintenance (OSA-CBM) specification, which is an architect...
متن کاملLate Adaptation of Method Invocation Semantics Regular Talk
In distributed object systems, one has the possibility to make method invocations on objects located on other host. During such an invocation, data is sent to another host and back. However, the system tries to hide this and simulate a standcard method invocation as close as possible. Some systems [Voyager] try to offer other invocation semantics, e.g. asynchronous method invocation. We try to ...
